Our Pledges, Terms and Conditions
Ning Limited - Trading as Ning Restaurant, Ning Cookery School and Ning Catering
We are an independent boutique restaurant in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Our reputation is built upon our values of fresh, authentic and relaxed.
To maintain these values and for the mutual benefit, understanding and happiness of our guests and clients and Ning, we politely ask all our guests and clients to be aware of the following terms and conditions:
Reservations
- Ning is pleased to welcome advanced reservations in our restaurant, and given our limited capacity, we strongly recommend them
- Reservations can be made by phone or email or online
- All reservations are subject to confirmation by a member of Ning staff
- Ning cannot be held responsible for online reservations which have not been communicated to a member of Ning staff by a third party
- We reserve the right to release reserved tables to other customers if you arrive 15 minutes or more after your reservation time in our restaurant diary
- We reserve the right to withdraw the ability to take reservations during exceptionally busy periods or on special occasions
- Group booking are subject to the terms and conditions in the section below.
Group bookings
- We aim to be a relaxing, sociable and friendly venue and as such do our best to be accommodating of larger parties wherever possible, subject to availability and operational factors
- Reservations for parties of 9 or more persons are additionally subject to:
- A holding deposit of £50 will be required to secure your booking, which is deductable from your total bill or can be refunded direct to the original payer
- Group reservations remain provisional until such a deposit has been made and as such the reservation could be withdrawn if required by other guests who have paid a deposit
- Deposits are non-refundable if you do not show up
- As a general rule and especially on Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays and on special occasions during the year, we request that group parties book into one of two sittings: (i) 5/6pm-8pm; or (ii) 8.30pm-11pm
- Pre-ordering may be requested, especially on busy nights
- A discretionary service charge of 10% will be added to your food and drink bills (see also section on service charges)
- Reservations for parties of 15 or more persons are further subject to:
- An additional holding deposit will be required, making a total of £100
- Large group reservations will be subject to the agreement and confirmation of the Proprietors, Restaurant Manager or Front of House Manager only
- Pre-ordering will generally be required, regardless of the day or time of week; special set menu deals/banquets can be arranged and are encouraged
- The number of persons in a large group will be deemed to be the agreed final number as informed to a member of Ning staff at least 48 hours in advance of the reservation
- We reserve the right to charge for any person who does not show up in a large group if less than 48 hours’ notice is given; based on the agreed set menu price per person or the average cost per person of a typical meal at Ning
- Any party of over 40 persons will be deemed to be exclusive use of the restaurant and will therefore be subject to the minimum spend requirements (see section on private functions below).
Opening times
- At the time of writing, the restaurant is open Tuesday to Thursday 6pm to 11pm and Friday to Sunday 5pm to 11pm
- Last orders are normally half an hour before closure though we reserve the right to alter that without notice for operational reasons
- On occasions it may be necessary to close the restaurant, such as for a private function (see section below on private functions), and wherever possible such closures are advertised in advance on our website
- We reserve the right to alter our opening times without advanced notice; under such circumstances an announcement will be made on the front door of the restaurant
- Note that some special offers (see section below) are subject to time restrictions
Service Charges
- A discretionary service charge of 10% is added to all food and drink bills relating to tables of 6 or more persons
- All tips are shared amongst all staff both front and kitchen
- We reserve the right to add a service charge on other occassions at the discretion of the owner or manager.
Special offers
- Special offers are normally available at any time, as published on our menu, website, websites of third parties and/or our Special’s blackboard
- At the time of writing our current special offer is Two Courses for £14.95 available all evening Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and BEFORE 7PM on Friday and Saturday. On Fridays and Saturdays guests must be seated and ordered BEFORE 7PM to qualify for the offer.
- The cut-off for time-restricted offers is deemed to be the time you were seated and therefore we cannot honour such offers if you are late arriving for your table
- All set price deals are not eligible for discounts (see section below on take-out and delivery)
- We reserve the right to withdraw or alter any special offer without notice, for example on special occasions or particular times of the year, e.g. Christmas & New Year
- We also reserve the right to add restrictions on special offers for group bookings, as notified to you in advance.
Take-out and delivery
- At the time of writing, food is available to collect and take-away from the restaurant at a 15% discount on our published À la carte prices
- At the time of writing, food is no longer available for delivery, except by special arrangement for significant pre-orders.
- Discounts are not valid with any other special offer (see also section on special offers below), including our two courses for £14.95 deal.
- Take-outs are normally prepared by our chefs within 20-30 minutes, subject to availability and the busyness of the restaurant at the time of ordering; any time given by a member of Ning staff will be an estimated time only
- We reserve the right the decline take-out orders during special occasions or exceptionally busy periods in the restaurant.
Private functions
- We enjoy catering for private functions for a wide variety of occasions by special arrangement with the Proprietors
- Hire of Ning as a venue and exclusive use of the restaurant is subject to a holding deposit and minimum spend requirements and/or hire charge, as informed by the Proprietors or member of the Ning management team
- Private functions are subject to a written quotation by the Proprietors or member of the Ning management team
- All quotations are subject to a service charge and VAT at the rate current at the time of issue
- All private functions are subject to the conditions of our premises licence and planning consent
- A fee will be payable should a temporary variation to our licence be required for a particular event and, in any case, be subject to the respect of our residential neighbours
- Further terms and conditions may be attached to a quotation.
Cookery School - general terms
- We are passionate about Malaysian food and our Cookery School is designed to be fun and convivial way of learning about it and cooking it; as such we welcome all pupils with a similar positive spirit
- Places on our cookery classes are subject to the price per person published on our website
- Full payment must be received in advance to secure your place
- Places can be purchased using a Ning gift voucher (also see section on gift vouchers below) provided the gift voucher is valid, the number on the back given at the time of booking and the gift voucher handed over to the tutor at the class (classes remain subject to availability and possession of a gift voucher does not guarantee a place)
- Cookery School pupils are responsible for their own health and safety whilst on Ning’s premises for a cookery class, and will be required to sign a disclaimer at the class following a hygiene and safety briefing by the tutor
- In the interests of hygiene, all long hair must be tied back whilst in Ning’s kitchen and loose or over-hanging clothes not worn
- We promise to provide a supportive and safe learning environment and all necessary equipment, including ingredients and aprons, are provided by Ning
- Please note that if you are booked onto a class on a specific date you may only change the class date once (see cancellation and transfer policies below)
- Cookery class vouchers are valid for 9 months from the date of purchase, or as otherwise stated on the voucher.
Cookery School - IMPORTANT - cancellation policy
More than 14 days notice:
- A full refund less an administration fee of £10 per person.
Between 2 & 14 days notice:
- If we* are able to fill your place, you will receive a full refund, less an administration fee of £10 per person.
- If we* are unable to fill your place, you will receive a 50% refund, less an administration fee of £10 per person.
Less than 48 hours notice:
- If we* are able to fill your place, you will receive a full refund less an administration fee of £10 per person.
- If we* are unable to fill your place, no refund will be available.
Cookery School - IMPORTANT - courses transfer policy
More than 14 days notice:
- You will be transferred to an alternative date/course of your choice and charged an administration fee of £10 per person.
Between 2 & 14 days notice:
- If we* are able to fill your place, you will be transferred and charged an administration fee of £10 per person.
- If we* are unable to fill your place, you will be transferred but charged 50% of the course cost and an administration fee of £10 per person
Less than 48 hours notice:
- If we* are able to fill your place, you will be transferred and charged an administration fee of £10 per person.
- If we* are unable to fill your place, no transfer or refund will be available. We are happy to help you re-book onto a new course.
* You are welcome to find someone yourself to take your place provided that you inform us of your consent and the person’s details in email/writing in advance of the class commencing. This will be subject to our standard £10 administration fee.
NOTE: However unlikely, we do reserve the right to cancel or amend a course due to circumstances beyond our control. Ning Cookery School is not liable for any losses incurred if you have to cancel your booking.
Gift vouchers
- Ning is pleased to offer gift vouchers for purchase, subject to availability of stocks
- Gift vouchers are available for purchase at Ning restaurant in multiples of £10, £20 or £50 for the use of purchasing meals, and in the form of vouchers at the current published rate of a cookery class for the use of purchasing a place on a class (classes remain subject to availability and possession of a gift voucher does not guarantee a place)
- Gift vouchers are only valid if printed on our signature pink paper and clearly stamped with our Ning motif, signed with the initials of an authorised member of Ning staff, and marked with a voucher code number
- Photocopies of gift vouchers will not be accepted under any circumstances
- We cannot be held responsible for vouchers lost or damaged by any member of the purchasing or recipient party; a new voucher will have to be purchased if a replacement required
- There is generally no expiry date as long as Ning remains trading in the services for which the vouchers are designed (expiry dates are however shown for vouchers purchased with a view to buying a cookery class)
- We reserve the right to refuse payment by gift voucher if a member of the Ning management team has reasonable grounds to suspect that a voucher is invalid.
Bespoke catering
- We enjoy catering for off-site functions for a wide variety of occasions by special arrangement with the Proprietors
- Outside catering is subject to a written quotation by the Proprietors or member of the Ning management team
- All quotations are subject to VAT at the rate current at the time of issue, and may be subject to a service charge if serving/waiting staff are to be provided by Ning
- Any catering event will not, under any circumstances, be honoured without an agreed deposit being paid
- We also reserve the right to insist on a contract to be signed by a client before a catering event can be carried out
- Further terms and conditions will be attached to a quotation and/or contained within a contract.
